Won't happen, theres too many stupid people who smoke and still loads of stupid kids who think it's cool to smoke.
Also theres too much money to be made.

Re: Time to ban Smoking?
I don't like smoking, but the world is becoming a bit shit really with basically someone wanting to take away all of the things that people enjoy doing.

If people want to kill themselves, then who gives a fuck?

I think it's more time for people to stop interfering.

*chuckles*

To be honest, I'd LOVE everyone to give up smoking, just to see what would happen.

Smoking raises approx £14 billion for the inland revenue, and costs the NHS £2 billion to treat smoking related diseases.
That's a £12 million black hole to be filled.

Would be awesome watching fat people get taxed, and watching all the people who whinge about smoking whinging about their taxes going up on everything.

Re: Time to ban Smoking?
read the article you tits

Two squares in Bristol last week became the first smoke-free outdoor places in Britain.

‘Ha, ha, “squares” is right!’ you cry. ‘How totally uncool to prevent people sparking up outside where it can’t do any harm. It was bad enough when they banned smoking in restaurants and offices. This is the thin end of a wedge that will outlaw cigarettes altogether.’

Well, let’s hope so, eh? It’s ridiculous in 2015 that anyone still wants to smoke, let alone is allowed to. Smoking is just so over. It’s so not modern. It’s so embarrassingly twentieth century. Like gas chambers, asbestos and driving a car. Like graffiti, factory farming and going to the moon. Things that had never happened before the last century, didn’t need to happen at all and soon won’t, ever again.

Re: Time to ban Smoking?
Also, with the treatment of smoking related deseases, that would include those dying from them?

But if they weren't dying from those, they would (eventually) end up receiving treatment for other things.

Does that figure equate for that?

Ban smoking and stop immunising kids.

Everywhere smells nice and the average age of the UK population still drops.

If you want everywhere to smell nice, you'll have to ban DOGS as well.

Shame you can't collect the cost of treating smoking related cancer from a dead persons estate.

I don't mind people smoking, I just think smoking in front of kids should become a criminal offence.

Pregnant women that smoke should have children taken away and locked up.

The women not the kids..

All the duty paid in fags surely pays for their cancer treatment

Re: Time to ban Smoking?
Mr P - My mates missus still doesn't talk to me.

I was talking to him at a party and he said his pregnant missus was behind me so i turned round to introduce myself and saw that she was smoking so i just said "What the fuck are you doing?" etc
Didn't go down too well.

Re: Time to ban Smoking?
I agree Mr P.

I find people smoking around me unpleasant, but smokers have got very descreet about it and rarely blow it in your face in public now.

So what? Get the cash off of them again - they won't need it. More money in the pot and a big incentive to stop smoking.
